New delhi: Indian cinema has lost one of its most powerful and unforgettable performers. Veteran actor Nana Patekar has passed away at the age of 75, leaving his fans, colleagues and the film industry in deep shock. Known for his intense performances, distinctive voice and ability to bring every character to life, Patekar created a legacy that will remain etched in the history of Indian cinema.

Nana Patekar Dies at 75

According to reports, Nana Patekar was staying at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa. His health reportedly deteriorated suddenly on the morning of October 8. His family found him unconscious and immediately rushed him to Manipal Hospital in Goa for treatment.

Doctors at the hospital tried to revive the veteran actor. However, his condition remained critical. According to the medical team, Patekar suffered a severe cardiac arrest. Doctors performed CPR for around 45 minutes in an attempt to save his life, but they could not revive him.

Doctors declared him dead at around 5:20 am on Thursday, October 8.

Cardiac Arrest Reportedly Cause of Death

Initial reports suggest that a severe cardiac arrest caused Nana Patekar’s death. Following his demise, the authorities initiated the required medical and legal procedures. Reports also indicate that a medico-legal case has been registered and the actor’s post-mortem will be conducted.

His son, Malhar Patekar, has also confirmed the actor’s death. The family has not yet released a detailed statement regarding the circumstances surrounding his demise.

A Career Spanning Decades

Nana Patekar built an extraordinary career across Hindi and Marathi cinema. He made his film debut with Gaman in 1978 and gradually established himself as one of the industry’s most versatile actors.

Over the years, he delivered memorable performances in films such as Parinda, Prahaar, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Khamoshi: The Musical, Ab Tak Chhappan, Welcome and Natsamrat. His powerful dialogue delivery and intense screen presence often made his characters stand out.

Patekar also explored filmmaking and directed Prahaar: The Final Attack. His contribution to Indian cinema earned him several major honours, including three National Film Awards and the Filmfare Award. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 2013.

Fans and Bollywood Mourn His Death

News of Nana Patekar’s death has left fans and members of the film fraternity heartbroken. Throughout his career, he played characters that audiences did not simply watch but also felt deeply.
