Aaditya Thackeray Seeks Bombay HC Intervention in Sushant Singh Rajput CBI Probe PIL

In the Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case, Aaditya Thackeray, a member of the Shiv Sena (UBT) and a legislator, has approached the Bombay High Court to request an opportunity to be heard before any decision is made regarding a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that calls for a CBI investigation into the deaths of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and his former manager Disha Salian. Thackeray, through his lawyer Rahul Arote, submitted an application on October 13th, asserting that the PIL is not justified since the state machinery is already conducting an investigation into the matter.

The PIL, filed in September of this year by the ‘Supreme Court & High Court Litigants Association of India’ and its president, Rashid Khan Pathan, demands the immediate arrest and also custodial interrogation of Aaditya Thackeray in case of the “mysterious” deaths of Disha Salian and actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The High Court has not yet scheduled any hearing in this PIL.

Arote stated, “We have submitted an intervention application, requesting the opportunity to be heard before any decision is made. We have argued that the PIL is not justified since the CBI is already investigating the Sushant Singh Rajput case. How can a decision be made in a PIL when the state machinery is already engaged in the investigation?”

The PIL calls for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate Thackeray, a former minister in Maharashtra, and to provide a comprehensive investigation report.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s death occurred when he was found deceased in his apartment in suburban Bandra on June 14, 2020. Initially, the Mumbai police initiated an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and began an investigation. However, in July, the actor’s father filed a complaint with the Bihar police, alleging that Sushant’s girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty, and her family had played a role in abetting his suicide.

The case was subsequently transferred to the CBI, which is currently conducting an investigation in the city. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is examining allegations of money laundering involving Rhea and her family, while the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is investigating claims that Rhea was involved in drug consumption and had supplied drugs to Sushant Singh Rajput.
