During talks about a loan from China, Pakistan’s Army Chief, Syed Asim Munir, emphasized the importance of achieving self-reliance to break free from the reliance on foreign loans. The nation, facing financial constraints, recently secured a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), but the Army Chief believes it’s time for Pakistan to no longer depend on handouts.
Addressing the inauguration of the Khanewal Model Agriculture Farm, General Munir expressed pride in the Pakistani people, describing them as a spirited and talented nation. He urged all citizens to discard the mentality of seeking assistance and “throw out the beggar’s bowl.”
Despite the loan from China, Pakistan’s debt has been increasing, including a significant portion owed to China itself. Nonetheless, the Army Chief asserted that Pakistan is blessed with abundant resources, and nothing can impede the nation’s progress.
General Munir emphasized the profound bond between the state and its people, likening it to a relationship of love and respect, with security and the economy being inseparable and mutually dependent. He reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to serving the nation, drawing strength from the support of the people, and vice versa.
With determination, General Munir pledged that the military will tirelessly strive to guide Pakistan out of its current crisis. He also expressed optimism about witnessing an agricultural revolution in the country, thanks to initiatives like the model farm.
