Anushka Sharma’s Instagram story dedicated to Virat Kohli is filled with admiration following the Indian cricket star’s remarkable century. Virat Kohli unleashed his extraordinary skills as India faced Bangladesh in the Cricket World Cup 2023 match on Thursday. This exceptional batsman scored his first century of the tournament, contributing to India’s unbroken winning streak of four matches in the competition. Kohli’s remarkable performance with the bat made it seem relatively easy for India to chase down the target of 257 runs. As fans celebrated Kohli’s greatness, his wife, Anushka Sharma, also expressed her tribute on Instagram.
Throughout the tournament, Virat has maintained outstanding form, amassing 259 runs in four matches. This superstar batsman ranks second in the list of top run-scorers for the tournament, just behind India’s captain, Rohit Sharma. With a century to his name, Kohli is now a strong contender for the title of the highest run-scorer in the World Cup.
Anushka, who has been a witness to many of Kohli’s finest performances, showed her heartfelt appreciation on social media as the Indian cricket legend achieved his 48th ODI century.
After the match, Virat commented, “I apologize for taking the Player of the Match award from Jaddu; I wanted to make a significant contribution. In previous World Cups, I’ve had a few fifties that I couldn’t convert. This time, I was determined to finish the game and stay until the end, which has been my role for the team over the years. I was telling Shubman, even if you dream of a situation like that, you’ll think it’s unreal. It was a dream start for me, with the first four balls resulting in two free-hits, a six, and a four. This calmed my nerves and got me into the innings.”
Virat further described, “The pitch was in good condition, allowing me to play my natural game – timing the ball, finding gaps, running hard, and getting boundaries when needed. There’s an excellent team spirit in the changing room, and we enjoy each other’s company. This camaraderie is evident on the field. We understand it’s a long tournament, so we aim to build momentum within the team, enabling players to perform as they did today. Playing at home and in front of this enthusiastic crowd is a special feeling, and we want to make the most of it.”
Next up, the Indian team is set to face the undefeated New Zealand side in Dharamsala on Sunday.
