Errol Musk, aged 77 and the father of billionaire Elon Musk, has voiced his apprehension that his son may be the target of an assassination attempt. His remarks come in response to a recent article published in The New Yorker, which suggested that the Tesla CEO’s influence extends to government decisions concerning space, Ukraine, social media, and electric vehicles. The article also emphasized the pivotal role played by SpaceX’s Starlink satellites in the conflict in Ukraine. Following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter last year, U.S. President Joe Biden remarked that his international relationships are “worthy of scrutiny.”
Reacting to The New Yorker’s article titled ‘Elon Musk’s Shadow Rule,’ Errol Musk told The Sun, “It’s a deliberate attack, orchestrated by a shadow government, as the initial step in a campaign against Elon.”
He went on to explain, “It’s akin to softening up the enemy with artillery fire before launching an actual attack and preparing the populace for such an attack.”
When asked if he feared that the “shadow government” might attempt to assassinate Elon, he responded affirmatively with a “yes.”
Elon Musk faced substantial criticism when he purchased Twitter for $44 billion in October of the previous year. He was accused of enabling an increase in hate speech and disinformation on the social media platform, which he subsequently rebranded as X.
The world’s wealthiest individual had received a veiled threat from former Russian space agency chief Dmitry Rogozin regarding the supply of Starlink satellite internet service to Ukraine in May of the prior year.
At the time, Elon Musk had humorously remarked, “If I meet an untimely end under mysterious circumstances, it’s been nice knowing you all.”
However, Mr. Rogozin was dismissed several months later, with Russian President Vladimir Putin appointing Yuri Borisov as his replacement.
Notably, a few months ago, some Twitter employees informed the BBC that Elon Musk is constantly accompanied by bodyguards. They also mentioned that maintaining security has become a challenge following layoffs and changes under Musk’s ownership.
