Elon Musk has extended an invitation to journalists, urging them to publish their work directly on X, previously known as Twitter, the micro-blogging platform he acquired last year. He has promised increased income and greater creative freedom for those journalists who choose to publish their content directly on X. Musk posted on the platform, “If you’re a journalist who desires more writing freedom and higher earnings, then consider publishing directly on this platform.”
Musk had previously discussed his intentions to enable media publishers on the platform to charge users for accessing their articles. He mentioned that users would be charged on a per-article basis and would face higher costs if they opt not to subscribe on a monthly basis.
However, these modifications to X’s policies have yet to be implemented.
In the meantime, X is currently facing a copyright lawsuit in France initiated by the AFP news agency. This lawsuit coincides with media groups’ demands for a share of profits generated from social media posts. AFP has filed the lawsuit to compel X to provide data that would enable them to estimate a fair level of compensation.
