Former Pakistani Minister Commends Chandrayaan-3 Mission as a Historic Moment

Fawad Chaudhry, who formerly served as the Minister of Information and Broadcasting in the Imran Khan government, has proposed that Pakistani media should broadcast the live coverage of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar landing. He also extended congratulations to Indian scientists and the space community, referring to the mission as a “historic moment for humanity.”

In a message posted on X (previously known as Twitter) on Tuesday, Fawad Chaudhry expressed, “Pakistani media should broadcast the live coverage of the #Chandrayan moon landing tomorrow at 6:15 PM… a historic moment for humankind, especially for the people, scientists, and space community of India. Many congratulations.”

Meanwhile, India is anxiously awaiting the landing of the Chandrayaan-3 moon mission on the lunar surface later today. With both anticipation and trepidation, celebrations and prayers are being observed, as scientists anticipate “20 minutes of terror” leading up to the landing.

The scheduled landing time is 6:04 pm and will be broadcast live nationwide. Schools will remain open for this event, and space enthusiasts are arranging gatherings in anticipation of this significant occurrence. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently participating in the BRICS summit in South Africa, will virtually join the event.

The suspense has been heightened by the recent failure of Russia’s Luna-25 moon mission, which crashed during its landing on the lunar surface last Sunday. In 2019, the Chandrayaan-2 mission also faced difficulties in landing safely within the same area, known for its craters and deep trenches.

The Indian space agency ISRO is confident that this landing will be successful, as scientists have incorporated the valuable insights gained from the Chandrayaan-2 mission.

Should the Chandrayaan-3 mission succeed in achieving a successful lunar touchdown and in landing a robotic lunar rover, marking ISRO’s second attempt in four years, India will become the fourth country to master the technology of soft-landing on the lunar surface, following the US, China, and the former Soviet Union.
