Huge setback for BJP in West Jabalpur as City President Prabhat Sahu resigns, Sahu community votes to cut

Ignoring Sahu community to cost BJP votes in West Jabalpur

Jabalpur, 29th October, 2023 :

Prabhat Sahu, a prominent BJP leader and City President of BJP announced his resignation on Sunday via a press conference. It is known that Prabhat Sahu had been aspiring for a ticket from the West Vidhan Sabha constituency for a considerable period. However, BJP chose to field sitting MP of Jabalpur Rakesh Singh from there, leaving Sahu visibly disappointed.

Following the disappointment, Sahu also tried his luck in the Jabalpur Central Vidhan Sabha constituency, but BJP decided to field Abhilash Pandey from there. Some party insiders are attaching his resignation to dissatisfaction with the party leadership.

Former Mayor of the BJP, Prabhat Sahu, mentioned that the incident at the BJP office on the 21st October must be thoroughly investigated. He expressed deep sorrow about the way the entire incident unfolded and his role in it. He stated that he was resigning from his position but would continue to work as a party worker. It is speculated that the incident might lead the Sahu community and the OBC community to vote in favor of the Congress. As a result, Rakesh Singh’s victory in the West constituency, which was already challenging, now seems increasingly unlikely.

It is worth mentioning that on the 21st October, there was a huge commotion at the BJP’s Jabalpur headquarters, and reports suggest an attempt was made to snatch a firearm from the security personnel of Rajya Sabha MP Bhupendra Yadav.

Prabhat Sahu’s resignation comes at a time when Home Minister Amit Shah was on a visit to Jabalpur and expressed dissatisfaction with Prabhat Sahu, unable to comprehend the reasons behind his discontent. The strained relationship between Sahu, a prominent leader in the Sahu community, and the BJP could prove to be a substantial blow to the BJP’s prospects in the West Jabalpur constituency.
