Vikramaditya Singh’s Resignation from the Himachal Cabinet:

Further complicating matters for the Congress administration in Himachal Pradesh, Vikramaditya Singh, a state minister and son of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, tendered his resignation on Wednesday. His decision was communicated during a press briefing held subsequent to the announcement of the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Sabha election results the day before. “Given the prevailing circumstances, I believe it is inappropriate for me to continue serving in the government. Consequently, I have elected to resign from the Council of Ministers,” stated Singh.

Background of Vikramaditya Singh:

Vikramaditya Singh, an Indian politician and Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Shimla Rural constituency, hails from a lineage deeply rooted in political history. He is the son of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh, while his mother, Pratibha Singh, serves as a Member of Parliament (MP) representing Mandi. Born into the esteemed Rajput family of Bushahr in Shimla district, Vikramaditya Singh once held the title of king of the erstwhile princely state of Bushahr.

Educational Background of Vikramaditya Singh:

Vikramaditya Singh’s academic journey commenced at Bishop Cotton School in Shimla, followed by undergraduate studies in History at Hansraj College. He furthered his education with a master’s degree in the same subject from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi. His entry into politics occurred in 2013.

Political Career of Vikramaditya Singh:

In 2013, Vikramaditya Singh embarked on his political odyssey by aligning himself with the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee. He assumed the role of president of the Himachal Pradesh state youth congress from 2013 to 2017. In 2017 and again in 2022, he secured victory in the Shimla Rural Constituency seat in the HP Legislative Assembly. On January 8, 2024, he assumed responsibilities as Minister of Public Works Department, Youth Services and Sports, and Urban Development in the Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu Ministry.
