New Delhi : The government has imposed an age limit on conceiving children through IVF following the birth of a second son to the late singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s parents last week. Balkaur Singh, the singer’s father, has claimed that the district administration is pressuring him for documentation regarding the child.
The couple welcomed their child last Saturday, nearly two years after their singer-son was fatally shot. According to a relative earlier this year, Charan Singh, aged 58, underwent the In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) procedure to conceive the child.
In an Instagram video on Tuesday, Balkaur Singh appealed to the administration to allow him to complete the treatment process.
“I am being harassed by the district to provide documentation for the child. I urge the government and the Chief Minister to allow the treatment to proceed. I will appear whenever required and present all necessary legal documents,” Mr. Singh stated.
Last week, the Union health ministry requested a report from the Punjab government regarding Charan Singh’s IVF treatment, emphasizing that the age limit for IVF procedures is between 21 and 50 years according to Section 21(g)(i) of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021.
Balkaur Singh also announced the birth of his second son last week on Instagram, sharing a photo and stating that the family is in good health. Sidhu Moose Wala, their elder son who transitioned from a singer to a politician, was fatally shot in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022.
