On Thursday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) unveiled its initial list of candidates for the upcoming Mizoram assembly elections. In this announcement, the party has nominated Andrew Lalremkima, the AAP state president, as its candidate for Aizawl North III. Additionally, Vanlalmawia Vanchhawwng, Biakthianghlima, and Lalngaihawma Pachau will be contesting from Aizawl West I, Aizawl West III, and Aizawl South I, respectively.
This follows the recent release of names by the BJP, which has declared 23 candidates, including the Speaker of the outgoing House and several individuals who recently joined the party from the ruling MNF, for the Mizoram assembly elections scheduled for November 7.
The majority of the AAP nominees are new faces, with four of them being women. The deadline for filing nominations is October 20. Johny Lalthanpuia, the State BJP media convener, mentioned that it’s uncertain whether the party will contest all 40 assembly seats in the northeastern state.
The polls will take place in Mizoram on November 7, in Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, in Madhya Pradesh on November 17, in Rajasthan on November 25, and in Telangana on November 30. The vote counting will occur on December 3 in all the states, with Chhattisgarh having its polling conducted in two phases.
And The Model Code of Conduct has been enforced by the announcement of the election dates. These elections in the five states are crucial, as they are being held several months ahead of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April-May next year.
