“Outrage Grows Over Manipur Incident as Chief Minister Remains in Office: Calls for Action and Resignation Intensify”

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren is set to remain in office despite calls for his removal, according to sources. Outrage has spread throughout the country after a video emerged showing two women being paraded naked in the violence-stricken state. Social media, including the Congress party, has demanded the Chief Minister’s resignation, citing significant governance failures.

However, government sources have clarified that there are no plans to change the Chief Minister, and the priority is to maintain law and order in the state. The situation in Manipur is reportedly under control, and the Home Minister has engaged with Kuki groups, assuring them of swift action. The Central government is also in constant communication with the state.

The disturbing video from May 4 went viral on Wednesday, showing the women being abused by a group of men before one of them was allegedly gang-raped in a paddy field. The lack of action on the case for over 70 days has sparked horror and anger over the state government’s inaction, leading to a massive protest rally in Manipur.

The Supreme Court has also taken notice of the incident and warned the state government to take action; otherwise, the court will intervene. Both the Congress and the public have expressed disappointment with the initial response from some members of the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister eventually condemned the incident in Parliament and promised that no guilty parties would go unpunished.

However, the Congress party remains dissatisfied with the Prime Minister’s statement, demanding a more comprehensive response and the resignation of the Manipur Chief Minister. The government has agreed to hold a discussion on Manipur in Parliament, with the Home Minister expected to provide a detailed response during the session.
