Palestinians in London celebrated on the streets following Hamas’ attacks on Israel. Amid the ongoing conflict between Israeli security forces and Hamas militants in Israel and Gaza since Saturday, London witnessed celebrations after the militant group launched rocket attacks and infiltrated the country, resulting in over 300 casualties. In response, the London Metropolitan Police have increased their presence on the streets. In a tweet on Sunday, the Metropolitan department stated, “We are aware of several incidents, including those shared on social media, related to the ongoing conflict in Israel and the Gaza border.”

“We are aware that the ongoing conflict may lead to protests in the coming days. We will ensure an appropriate policing plan is in place to balance the right to protest against any disruption to Londoners,” the Metropolitan department statement added on this matter.

Videos circulating on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), showed people cheering the attack on Israel while holding Palestinian flags in London.

Countdown presenter Rachel Riley posted a video on X, expressing her dismay, saying, “People have been brutally murdered and kidnapped, and there are people in London dancing.”
