After receiving criticism on social media for touching the feet of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Tamil superstar Rajinikanth addressed the issue and explained that it’s his custom to show reverence by touching the feet of yogis or ascetics to seek their blessings.
Recently, the renowned actor visited the residence of the UP CM in Lucknow and touched his feet as a gesture of seeking his blessings. Upon his return to Chennai on Monday night, he briefly spoke to reporters stationed at the airport.
Responding to questions about the controversy surrounding his act of touching the UP CM’s feet, Rajinikanth clarified that he performed this action out of a sense of respect.
“It’s my practice to touch the feet of yogis or ascetics and receive their blessings, even if they are younger than me. I did just that,” he stated.
During his trip to Uttar Pradesh, Rajinikanth also organized a special screening of his movie ‘Jailer,’ which was attended by UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. He also paid a visit to the residence of Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav during his stay.
Furthermore, he visited the Surya Command and engaged with personnel of all ranks and their families. He expressed deep gratitude and admiration for the Indian Army’s dedication to the nation.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s film ‘Jailer’ is performing exceptionally well at the box office. Within just 11 days of its release, the movie grossed Rs 5 billion globally.
Sharing this update, trade analyst Ramesh Bala posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that Rajinikanth’s movie ‘Jailer’ has surpassed the Rs 500 crore mark at the worldwide box office. This marks the superstar’s second movie to enter the Rs 500 crore+ club after ‘2.0’.
Featuring notable actors like Jackie Shroff, Mohanlal, Shivrajkumar, and Kishore in cameo roles, ‘Jailer’ narrates the story of a retired police officer who leverages his connections with former prisoners to save his son from a gangster.
