“Narendra Modi is not the Prime Minister of India; he is the Prime Minister of industrialist Gautam Adani,” commented AAP MP Sanjay Singh in a viral video. He made this remark just moments before his appearance in a Delhi court for a money-laundering case related to the alleged Delhi liquor policy controversy. The video, shared by the AAP on social media, captures Singh being escorted away by police officers. Upon spotting a journalist, the AAP leader took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, “Modi ji isn’t the Prime Minister of India; he’s Adani’s Prime Minister. When will there be an investigation into Adani’s alleged wrongdoing?” The court subsequently ordered Singh to remain in judicial custody until October 27.

Special Judge M K Nagpal made this decision after the Enforcement Directorate presented Singh in court following the expiration of his earlier custodial custody. Singh had been arrested on October 4. The ED has accused him of playing a significant role in the formulation and execution of the controversial liquor policy, which was subsequently canceled by the AAP-led Delhi government after a CBI probe was ordered. Authorities claim that this policy favored certain liquor manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers at the expense of the public treasury, in exchange for alleged bribes. On October 10, Singh, who had been arrested earlier in the month, was remanded in Enforcement Directorate custody until October 13. On Friday, Singh filed a petition with the Delhi High Court challenging his arrest. Meanwhile, AAP supporters protested near the BJP headquarters in the national capital in response to Singh’s arrest.
