Sony’s PlayStation 5 Slim, the latest addition to its gaming lineup, is arriving in India on April 5. Sporting identical hardware to the PlayStation 5, this newly unveiled console comes with enhanced storage capabilities.
Both disc and disc-less versions of the PlayStation 5 Slim are available, taking up about 30 percent less space and weighing 25 percent lighter than the regular model. With 1TB of built-in storage, expandable through external SSDs, this console was announced in October last year and was initially limited to the United States.
With a design identical to the standard PlayStation 5, the PlayStation 5 Slim offers users the ability to switch the disc-less variant to a disc-enabled one by changing the side panel. Nevertheless, Sony has not yet revealed information about the availability of this additional feature.
While the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 5 Slim share similar aesthetics, the Slim version distinguishes itself with four side plates, whereas the standard model has two. Among the extra plates on the PlayStation 5 Slim, one is dedicated to housing the detachable Blu-ray disc drive. Additionally, the original model offers one USB-C and one USB-A port, whereas the Slim variant showcases two USB-C ports on its front.
The PlayStation 5 Slim, which includes a disc drive, has a price tag of Rs 54,990, whereas the disc-less PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is offered at Rs 44,990 by both offline and online retailers.
