Police examine phone records of Galgotias University student while awaiting post-mortem report for clarity

Greater Noida: A 19-year-old B.Tech student of Galgotias University was found dead in his hostel room in Greater Noida. The incident has triggered a detailed investigation, with officers examining all possible angles, including a possible emotional or relationship-related issue.

The student has been identified as Gaurav, a first-year B.Tech student from the Jatu area of Rewari district in Haryana. He had come to Greater Noida to pursue his engineering studies and was staying at the Bhagat Singh Hostel located in the AWHO Society area under the Beta-2 police station limits.

Body Found In Room

According to police officials, other students informed hostel authorities after they noticed something unusual. When there was no response from inside the room, police were called to the spot. Officers broke and open the locked door and found Gaurav hanging inside.

Police brought the body down and immediately sent it for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

At the time of the incident, Gaurav’s three roommates were reportedly away on leave, and he was alone in the room.

Police Begin Investigation

Officials from the Beta-2 police station started investigating the matter soon after reaching the hostel. Preliminary observations suggested it may be a case of suicide, but police said they would wait for the post-mortem report before confirming anything officially.

Officers have been questioning Gaurav’s friends, classmates, and hostel mates to understand what may have happened before the incident.

Message Sent Before Death

During the investigation, police found that Gaurav had sent a message to a young woman shortly before he was found dead. This message has become an important part of the probe.

Police are now examining his mobile phone, call detail records (CDR), and message history to gather more information. Officials have not made the content of the message public. However, they confirmed that they are investigating whether emotional stress related to a possible love affair could have played a role.

At the same time, police are also looking into other possible factors such as academic pressure, personal issues, or mental health concerns.

Family Informed, No Complaint Filed

Police informed Gaurav’s family soon after the body was discovered. His family members travelled from Haryana to Greater Noida following the incident.

According to officials, the family has not filed any written complaint so far. After the post-mortem formalities were completed, the body was handed over to the family. They later took it to their native village in Haryana to perform the last rites.

Post-Mortem Report Awaited

Police have clearly stated that the exact cause of death will only be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received. Officers are also reviewing CCTV footage from the hostel area and continuing to examine digital evidence from the student’s phone.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing, and it would be too early to draw any final conclusions until all forensic and technical reports are available.

Campus In Shock

The news of Gaurav’s death has left students at Galgotias University shocked and saddened. Some classmates described him as a quiet and hardworking student.

The university administration has not issued a detailed public statement yet, but sources said it is cooperating fully with the police investigation.

This tragic incident has once again raised concerns about student wellbeing, emotional stress, and the importance of support systems in educational institutions.

Police said they will continue their investigation and take further action based on the post-mortem findings and other evidence collected in the case.
