Fire tenders and police teams rushed near Radisson Hotel after a loud sound; officials later confirmed no blast or suspicious activity in Mahipalpur, Delhi.
A sudden explosion-like sound near Delhi’s Mahipalpur area created panic among locals and commuters on Thursday morning. The noise was reported around 9:18 a.m. near the Radisson Blu Hotel, one of the busiest stretches in South-West Delhi. Within minutes, police and fire officials reached the location to check for any possible blast or damage.
Delhi Fire Services received a distress call reporting an explosion-like noise, after which three fire tenders were immediately sent to the spot. People in nearby areas were alarmed, fearing a repeat of the recent Red Fort blast that had shaken the city just days earlier.
Police and Fire Teams Act Quickly
Police and fire teams acted swiftly after reaching the area. They inspected nearby vehicles, shops, and open spaces to identify the source of the loud noise. The area was temporarily sealed off as a safety precaution. However, after a detailed check, no signs of an explosion, smoke, or damage were found anywhere around the Radisson Hotel area.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West), the person who reported the sound was on their way to Gurugram when they heard it. After the inspection, officials confirmed that there was nothing suspicious or harmful found at the scene.
DTC Bus Tyre Burst Behind the Noise
After a short investigation, the authorities discovered that the sound came from a tyre burst of a Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus that was heading toward Dhaula Kuan. The rear tyre burst was so loud that it echoed through the area, making it seem like an explosion. A security guard near the spot confirmed that he saw the tyre bursting around the same time the sound was heard.
Once the cause was identified, the situation calmed down quickly, and officials assured the public that no explosion or security threat had occurred.
Tension Due to Recent Delhi Blast
The incident caused a brief moment of fear among residents because it happened just a few days after a major blast near Red Fort, which had killed several people and injured many others. The recent tragedy has kept Delhi residents on edge, and any loud sound is now met with immediate concern. Mahipalpur’s proximity to key locations like the Indira Gandhi International Airport and luxury hotels added to the tension.
Police stated that all reports of explosion-like sounds are being treated seriously given the current security climate in the city.
Situation Normal, No Threat Found
Authorities have confirmed that the Mahipalpur area is safe, and normal activity has resumed. Police urged people not to believe or share unverified information on social media, as such rumors can cause unnecessary panic. Emergency services are continuing to stay alert across the city to ensure public safety.
