Armed accused apprehended by Head Constable after aerial firing attempt; illegal weapon seized, past criminal involvement surfaces
New Delhi: Demonstrating exceptional bravery and commitment to duty, HC Vikrant from PS Kalyanpuri successfully apprehended an armed accused. The suspect fired in the air when confronted and tried to escape on a scooty, but was chased and subdued single-handedly. A country-made pistol and three live cartridges were recovered from him.
Incident & Investigation
On 20.04.2026 at approximately 02:25 AM, HC Vikrant was proceeding towards Mayur Vihar in his private vehicle. Near the Community Building, Block-25, Trilokpuri, he noticed a suspicious individual carrying a firearm. Acting swiftly, he stopped and challenged the individual.
In response, the accused fired one round in the air and attempted to escape on a red-coloured scooty. HC Vikrant immediately pursued and successfully overpowered the accused single-handedly. Upon search, the following items were recovered:
• One illegal country-made pistol
• Three live cartridges
Information was promptly conveyed to Police Station Kalyanpuri. The local police team reached the spot, took custody of the accused, and seized the recovered items. A case has been registered at PS Kalyanpuri under Section 125 BNS and Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway.
