Patna: The Bihar government has launched a new doorstep property registration service for senior citizens aged 80 years and above. The initiative allows eligible citizens to register land, plots or flats without visiting a registration office.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the service at the Hajipur Registration Office. The government launched the initiative under the ‘Sabka Samman, Jeevan Aasaan’ programme, which forms part of the Saat Nischay-3 initiative.
As a result, elderly citizens no longer need to travel long distances or wait in queues. Instead, they can complete the registration process from the comfort of their homes.
How will doorstep property registration work?
First, applicants must book an appointment on the official e-Nibandhan portal. Once they receive a slot, a Mobile Registration Unit will visit their home on the scheduled date.
The officials will verify documents, complete biometric authentication, confirm Aadhaar details and finish the property registration process at the applicant’s residence.
After completing the registration, the team will send the registered documents as a PDF to the applicant’s registered mobile number through SMS.
Aadhaar mandatory for booking
Applicants must upload their Aadhaar card while booking an appointment. The document helps officials verify the applicant’s age.
Moreover, the Bihar government says the entire process is secure, transparent and fully digital.
Currently, the government has introduced the service in 10 registration offices across Patna and Hajipur. It plans to expand the facility across Bihar in the coming months.
Paperless registration and new digital services
Additionally, the government has introduced a paperless property registration system through the upgraded e-Nibandhan software.
The platform offers:
- Automatic fee calculation
- e-Challan
- e-Stamp
- Aadhaar-based e-signatures
Furthermore, buyers can access complete property details before registration. If they need additional information, revenue officials will provide it within 10 days.
The government has also introduced GIS-based site inspections to improve transparency and speed up the verification process.
Citizens welcome the initiative
Residents have welcomed the new service. They believe it will save senior citizens from unnecessary travel, long queues and extra expenses.
Moreover, the initiative will make property registration faster, easier and more accessible for elderly citizens across the state.
