Ayushman Bharat Scheme Launched at MatCare Hospital Varanasi for Free NICU and PICU Care

MatCare Maternity & Child Hospital in Varanasi has launched the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, enabling eligible patients to access free hospital admission along with specialised NICU and PICU care for newborns

Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh: MatCare Maternity & Child Hospital, Varanasi, has launched the Ayushman Bharat Scheme to improve access to specialised healthcare for women and children. Under the initiative, eligible patients can avail themselves of free admission, PICU services and NICU care for newborns at the hospital.

The initiative aims to support families who may face financial difficulties in accessing specialised neonatal and paediatric treatment. Through the scheme, MatCare plans to make timely and expert-led newborn care more accessible to eligible families across Varanasi and surrounding areas.

The launch event was attended by Dr. Dayashankar Mishra (Dyalu), Ayush Khadya Suraksha and Aushadhi Prashasan Rajya Mantri, Uttar Pradesh Sarkar, as the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by Dr. R. V. Singh, Medical Superintendent, MatCare Varanasi; Dr. Sunil Yadav, Centre Head; Dr. Nimisha Singh, Head of Paediatrics; and Dr. Abhijeet Roy, Head of Neonatology.

Free NICU and PICU Care for Eligible Patients

With the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, eligible patients can access MatCare’s NICU and PICU facilities without treatment costs under the applicable scheme provisions. The initiative is expected to benefit families requiring specialised care for premature, critically ill and high-risk newborns.

Speaking at the launch, Chief Guest Dr. Dayashankar Mishra (Dyalu) said that the initiative would help bring specialised healthcare closer to families who need it most. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that every newborn receives safe and attentive medical care regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.

Dr. Nikhil Yadav, CEO, MatCare, said that making quality women and child healthcare accessible and compassionate remains a key part of MatCare’s vision. He described the launch of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Varanasi as an important step towards extending specialised PICU and NICU services to more eligible patients.

Dr. R. V. Singh, Medical Superintendent, MatCare Varanasi, said the initiative would help the hospital reach more people in the community while improving awareness about specialised healthcare and strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the region.

Focus on Mother and Newborn Care

Dr. Sunil Yadav, Centre Head, MatCare Varanasi, emphasised the importance of timely neonatal, surgical and gynaecological care for mothers and newborns. He said the scheme would help eligible patients access quality treatment without the burden of treatment costs.

Dr. Nimisha Singh, Head of Paediatrics, said access to specialised paediatric and neonatal services can play an important role in improving outcomes for newborns. She added that the hospital aims to ensure more children receive appropriate care regardless of their financial circumstances.

Dr. Abhijeet Roy, Head of Neonatology, highlighted the role of advanced NICU facilities in treating premature, critically ill and high-risk newborns. He said MatCare’s Level III NICU provides specialised neonatal care and that the scheme will help extend these services to more eligible families in Varanasi.

With the launch of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme at MatCare Hospital Varanasi, the hospital aims to further strengthen its focus on accessible, specialised and compassionate healthcare for women and children.
