Operation Chakra 2.0: West Delhi Police Recover 185 Stolen Vehicles

West Delhi Police recovered 185 stolen vehicles and arrested 44 accused during a 72-hour Operation Chakra 2.0 anti-auto theft drive

New Delhi: West Delhi Police have reported the recovery of 185 stolen vehicles and the arrest of 44 accused during a 72-hour anti-auto theft operation. The drive, conducted under Operation Chakra 2.0, forms part of the department’s intensified crime-control efforts under newly appointed DCP Hareshwar V. Swami, IPS.

The operation targeted vehicle theft and aimed to strengthen enforcement across West Delhi. Police have also conducted pre-festival drives against alleged snatchers and habitual offenders. These operations led to arrests and the recovery of illegal weapons and stolen mobile phones, according to the press release.

Another initiative, Operation Chakravyuh, has helped police track and apprehend proclaimed offenders. The department has combined these enforcement measures with increased deployment in vulnerable areas and intensified night patrolling.

West Delhi Police have also expanded their community outreach. Police personnel are visiting senior citizens at their homes to discuss safety concerns and explain ways to prevent crime.

Street plays and awareness programmes in educational institutions focus on cyber security, drug abuse and personal safety. Public forums also introduce newly inducted police personnel to local residents, helping people establish direct contact with their neighbourhood officers.

The department strengthened security at 41 Ramlila venues with CCTV surveillance, grievance redressal desks and awareness kiosks. Police also engaged market associations, restaurant owners and residents’ groups to discuss encroachments, public drinking, regulatory compliance and firecracker safety.

Professor Tapas Dey, HR Head at MERI, appreciated the police leadership for combining enforcement with public engagement.

Through Operation Chakra 2.0, Operation Chakravyuh and community initiatives such as VIMUKT and Taalmel, West Delhi Police aim to strengthen crime prevention and improve neighbourhood security.
