The BJP criticized Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday for eating fish during Navratri. The party labeled Tejashwi as a “seasonal Sanatani,” accusing him of engaging in “politics of appeasement” and violating the principles of Sanatan Dharma by consuming non-vegetarian food during the month of Shravan.
In a video statement, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha stated that eating mutton during Shravan and fish during Navratri goes against the principles of Sanatan Dharma and called Yadav a “seasonal Sanatani.”
“RJD are seasonal Sanatanis and they don’t know how to follow Sanatan Dharma. I have no objection to people’s food habits, but consuming mutton during the month of Shravan and having fish during Navratri cannot be the eating practice of a true Sanatani. They are engaging in politics of appeasement by doing all these,” Sinha said.
Tejashwi Yadav ate fish during Navratri?
On April 9, the first day of Navratri, Tejashwi Yadav shared a video of himself dining with Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahni aboard a helicopter.
In the video, the two leaders were seen enjoying a meal of fish and roti, with Yadav explaining that he eats quickly during election campaigns.
Sahni also made a sarcastic comment aimed at their opponents by holding up a chili, suggesting they might feel “burned” after watching the video.
“Having lunch in a helicopter amidst the hustle and bustle of the General election! Date – 08/04/2024,” Yadav’s post on X read.
Tejashwi Yadav responds
In response to the backlash over his fish-eating video, Yadav defended himself by pointing out that the clip was from April 8, a day before the 10-day Navratri period began.
“We uploaded this video to test the IQ of BJP and Godi media followers, and we were proven right in our thinking. The tweet mentions the date, but what do the poor blind followers know? At the end, Sahni also mentioned about the chili,” the RJD leader wrote in a sharp response.
