New Delhi : In accordance with the electoral schedule for the Lok Sabha Election 2024, banks will remain closed on April 19 in various cities where polling is scheduled to take place. This closure aligns with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar for 2024, taking into account the voting days designated by the Election Commission (EC).
The first phase of polling is slated to occur on April 19, marking the commencement of the election process, which spans seven phases through June 1. As part of this phase, elections will be conducted in multiple states, including Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, as well as the union territories of Lakshadweep, Puducherry, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Consequently, banks in key cities such as Chennai, Dehradun, Itanagar, Jaipur, Kohima, Nagpur, and Shillong will remain closed on April 19, 2024. This closure is aimed at facilitating the electoral process and ensuring the smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha elections across these regions.
