Day 1 of the annual academic conference highlights cardiac MRI updates, ethics in radiology, and active involvement of young residents

The Delhi Chapter of the Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (IRIA) inaugurated its annual academic conference, Delhi Imaging Update 2025, today in collaboration with Lady Hardinge Medical College. The conference brought together radiologists, researchers, and postgraduate trainees from across Delhi for a day of scientific discussions, academic exchange, and resident-focused activities.
Day One featured scientific paper sessions, where residents presented case-based insights and emerging imaging trends across subspecialties. These presentations reflected the Chapter’s continued emphasis on nurturing academic curiosity and promoting structured research among young radiologists.
A dedicated ethics session, organized under the Delhi Chapter’s academic wing, addressed responsible reporting, patient rights, and medico-legal safeguards essential to radiology practice. This was followed by the preliminary round of the Delhi Chapter Intercollegiate Quiz, which challenged participants on foundational concepts and recent advancements in diagnostic imaging.
The conference was graced by esteemed Chief Guests Dr. C. Amarnath , Senior Professor & Past National President from Chennai, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Professor from AIIMS & National Secretary of IRIA, Dr Raghav Agarwal, President Delhi IRIA , Dr B. R. Goyal, President Elect, Dr Sanjeev Sachdeva, Secretary and Dr. Satyajit Kumar (SPO and PCPNDT Delhi), whose presence and insightful remarks added great value to the inaugural ceremony.
This year’s distinguished Dr. O.P. Bansal Oration and Dr. D.P. Garg Oration were conferred upon Dr. C. Amarnath and Dr. Arvind Chaturvedi, respectively.
The conference also celebrated excellence and long-standing commitment. Eminent Radiologists & Academicians were honored with awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr S. S. Doda & Dr U. C. Garg for their outstanding scholarly accomplishment ,acknowledging their dedication and valuable contribution to Delhi IRIA.
A special highlight of the event was the honouring of all Past Presidents of Delhi IRIA, recognising their leadership, vision, and invaluable contributions to the growth of the association.
The Delhi IRIA Annual Conference once again proved to be a successful blend of scientific advancement, recognition, and fellowship, reinforcing the commitment of IRIA toward promoting excellence in radiology.
Speaking about the conference, Dr. Raghav Agarwal, President, Delhi State Chapter of IRIA, said, “For two decades, the Delhi State Chapter has honored senior radiologists and celebrated academic excellence, but this conference goes far beyond awards. It reinforces ethical practice, addresses critical issues like declining sex ratios, and unites the radiology community in upholding laws and guidelines that safeguard patients. Delhi Imaging Update 2025 underscores the profession’s commitment to responsible, high-quality radiology.”
Sharing his perspective on the academic impact of the conference, Dr. Sanjeev Sachdeva, Secretary, Delhi State Chapter, IRIA, said, “This platform trains young radiologists in global protocols, structured reporting, and evidence-based diagnostic approaches. With over 25 lectures, papers, posters, and national-level orations, it creates a dynamic exchange between senior faculty and residents. Faster, clearer, and more accurate imaging reports ultimately strengthen clinical decision-making and improve patient care.”
Adding his remarks on the national significance of the event, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, National Secretary, IRIA, said, “Delhi Imaging Update 2025 represents the spirit of the IRIA’s academic mission. The enthusiasm shown by young radiologists and the depth of scientific content here reaffirm our commitment to elevating imaging standards across the country. Such platforms empower residents, strengthen subspecialty training, and help build a more robust and patient-centric radiology ecosystem.”
Day One of Delhi Imaging Update 2025 concluded with strong participation and enthusiastic engagement from residents and faculty alike, setting a solid foundation for Day Two, scheduled for November 16, which will feature dedicated sessions on pediatric, fetal, and women’s imaging.
