Bihar Diwas 2026 celebrated in Texas with CGI Houston, uniting diaspora groups through culture, networking, and vision for Bihar’s global growth and unity
HOUSTON, TX — Diaspora of Bihar in the United States celebrated Bihar Diwas 2026 at India House, Houston, with participation from the Consulate General of India (CGI), Houston. The event brought together Bihar Foundation (Texas Chapter), BANA, BAANA, and AMBUJ, to mark the shared vision of bonding, branding and business.
The Consulate General played a central role in bringing organisations onto one platform. The event was coordinated by Mr. Prashant K. Sona (Consul, Consular and Community Affairs) and Ms. Yasmeen Arya (CGI Office), along with Mr. Bidhu Prakash, Ms. Rekha Tiwari, Dr. Santosh Verma, and Mr. Parthsarthi Jha. The event was hosted at India House with support from Col. Vipin Kumar, Director.

Participation from across Texas was strong, with the Houston team led by Ms. Rekha Tiwari and the Dallas contingent led by Mr. Parthsarthi Jha. Key representatives included Neeraj Kumar (BAANA), Bidhu Prakash (BANA), Ravi Shankar (AMBUJ), and Parthsarthi Jha (Bihar Foundation Texas). Ravi Shankar (Joint Secretary) played a key role in coordinating the Dallas team. The executive leadership of Bihar Foundation Texas ensured smooth execution.
Cultural performances were a major highlight. A collective rendition of “Vande Mataram”, led by Dr. Ekta Singh, created a patriotic atmosphere. Youth and children presented songs, music, and performances, while a special segment showcased Bihar’s 2,500-year-old crafts, including Madhubani painting, Sikki work, and Bhagalpur Tussar silk.

Shri Kundan Kumar, I.A.S. (Secretary, Department of Industries, Government of Bihar; MD, BIADA; CEO, Bihar Foundation) appreciated the Consulate General and the Texas Chapter. He highlighted Bihar Foundation’s presence in 47 global chapters, along with new initiatives such as a digital portal and the upcoming NRB Card, and described the diaspora as Bihar’s greatest strength.
Consul General Shri D.C. Manjunath praised the proactive efforts of the Texas Chapter and the collective spirit of all organisations.
Messages were also received from Shri Devesh Chandra Thakur (MP), Shri Dilip Kumar Jaiswal (Hon’ble Minister of Industries), and Shri Pratyaya Amrit (Chief Secretary). The event concluded with a strong sense of unity, with the community now looking ahead to Bihar Diwas 2027 in Dallas.
