Dr. K.A. Paul Ignites Fresh Battle: “Fulfill 2014 Bifurcation Promises NOW or Betray Andhra & Telangana!”

Demands Special Financial Package, Polavaram Completion, Steel Plant Protection & Time-Bound Action from Centre

In a powerful and impassioned address to the media at Andhra Bhawan today, Dr. K.A. Paul, Founder of Praja Shanti Party, launched a strong appeal to the Union Government to immediately honour the long-pending promises made to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the 2014 state bifurcation.

Dr. Paul sharply criticised the continued delay in granting Special Category Status or equivalent special financial assistance to Andhra Pradesh — a commitment repeatedly made in Parliament and successive Union Budgets but never implemented.

Highlighting the ongoing legal battle, he pointed out that the Andhra Pradesh High Court, under Hon’ble Justice Narendra’s order, had issued notices to the Government of India, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy more than 18 months ago. Shockingly, no counter-affidavits have been filed till date.

Describing the delay as “completely unacceptable,” Dr. Paul issued an ultimatum to both Chief Ministers, urging them to file their counters in the High Court by January 21, 2026 without fail.

He passionately argued that special financial assistance would turbocharge development, create lakhs of jobs, strengthen education and healthcare systems, and significantly boost state revenues.

Dr. Paul listed the key pending demands for Andhra Pradesh, including:

  • Immediate release of special financial assistance
  • Early completion of the Polavaram irrigation project
  • Full protection and revival of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant
  • Creation of promised railway zones
  • Granting national project status to major irrigation schemes

Turning to Telangana, he reminded the Centre of its unfulfilled commitments, including:

  • Establishment of Kazipet Rail Manufacturing Unit
  • Development of Bayyaram Steel Plant
  • NTPC Ramagundam Phase-II expansion
  • Setting up of Central Horticulture University
  • National Institute of Disaster Management
  • National status for the Palamuru-Rangareddy irrigation project

Dr. K.A. Paul made a direct appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to personally intervene and ensure equitable and justice-based development for both Telugu states.

He also called upon the media and the people of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to unite and raise their voice in support of this long-overdue demand for justice and accelerated progress.

On a personal note, Dr. Paul expressed deep condolences to industrialist Shri Anil Agarwal and his family on the sad demise of his son, Agnivesh Agarwal.
