Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr. Somya Gurjar met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the national capital on Tuesday to deliberate on GST-2 reforms and key developmental priorities for Jaipur.
During the interaction, Dr. Gurjar provided an overview of the progress achieved in Jaipur under her leadership, particularly the beautification projects and civic improvements implemented at the municipal level. She emphasized how GST-2 reforms have contributed to a more favorable economic climate in Rajasthan, offering tangible benefits to traders as well as ordinary citizens.
The Mayor also shared her experiences from the Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation’s current term and highlighted the financial challenges faced by local bodies in Rajasthan. She underscored the need for robust mechanisms to reinforce the fiscal health and sustainability of urban governance structures.
In a symbolic gesture, Dr. Gurjar presented the Finance Minister with “Mera Jaipur Greater”, a coffee-table book documenting the major initiatives and achievements of the Jaipur Greater Municipal Corporation.
