During extreme heat, many people experience gas, acidity, constipation and a swollen stomach. Changes in digestion, dehydration, poor food habits and reduced physical activity can all contribute to summer bloating.

Heat Can Slow Down Digestion

During hot weather, the body works harder to stay cool. It sends more blood towards the skin to support sweating and help lower body temperature. This process may reduce blood flow to the digestive system and slow digestion.

When digestion slows down, food stays in the stomach and intestines for a longer time. This can lead to gas formation, heaviness and bloating. Heat can also affect digestive enzymes and gut movement, making people feel sluggish or uncomfortable after meals.
