New Delhi : A four-month-old Indian toddler has become a millionaire worth Rs 240 crore, courtesy of a gift from Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy. Ekagrah Rohan Murthy, the grandson of Narayana Murthy, has been bestowed with Infosys shares worth the aforementioned amount, likely making him India’s youngest millionaire.
To elaborate, Ekagrah now possesses 1,500,000 shares, amounting to a 0.04 percent ownership in Infosys, which is recognized as India’s second-largest information technology services company, according to a filing with the BSE.
As a result of this share transfer, Narayana Murthy’s personal stake in Infosys has decreased from 0.40 percent to 0.36 percent, out of a total of over 15.1 million shares.
The transfer of shares was executed ‘off-market,’ as stated in the BSE filing.
Ekagrah Rohan Murthy is the offspring of Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty. His father, Rohan Murthy, and mother, Aparna Krishnan, announced his birth in November 2023.
The name ‘Ekagrah’ was chosen by Narayana Murthy, inspired by the Sanskrit term for ‘unbroken meditation.’
Narayana Murthy founded Infosys in 1981 and served as its CEO until 2002, after which he became Chairman of the Board until 2006. Subsequently, he retired with the title of Chairman Emeritus in August 2011, only to return as executive chairman in 2013. During this period, his son Rohan Murthy worked as his executive assistant.
Additionally, Narayana Murthy’s daughter, Akshata Murty, is married to Rishi Sunak, who serves as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
