New Delhi: Dr Bhargav Mallappa met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and presented his latest book, The Modi Era: India’s Journey of Transformation, which examines India’s digital transformation during Narendra Modi’s tenure as Prime Minister.
During the meeting, Mallappa discussed the impact of digital technology on governance, banking, financial services and everyday life. He highlighted initiatives such as Aadhaar, Jan Dhan, mobile connectivity, UPI and Direct Benefit Transfers as important parts of India’s digital development.
The conversation also focused on the challenges that have accompanied the expansion of digital technology. Mallappa pointed to cybersecurity, privacy, digital literacy and equal access to technology as key areas that require continued attention.
Rajnath Singh acknowledged Mallappa’s work and the book’s focus on documenting changes in governance and public life. The book examines how digital platforms and services have changed interactions between citizens, businesses and government institutions.
Mallappa’s book also looks at the opportunities that technology can create for India’s future development. At the same time, it examines issues that policymakers and citizens may face as digital services expand.
Mallappa said he wrote the book to document India’s transformation through the experiences of ordinary citizens. He added that technology has become an increasingly important part of India’s development journey.
