Delhi visitors show strong interest in Rajasthan’s handicrafts, women-led products and traditional food during the ten-day festival
New Delhi: Rajasthan’s vibrant crafts, cuisine and folk traditions received an overwhelming response in Delhi as the ten-day Teejotsav Craft and Food Fair concluded at Bikaner House with sales exceeding ₹1.30 crore.
The festival brought together artisans, craftspeople, artists, women-led self-help groups and food producers from different parts of Rajasthan. Visitors had the opportunity to discover traditional handicrafts, textiles, jewellery, footwear, food products and cultural performances under one roof.
Principal Resident Commissioner Rohit Kumar congratulated the participating artisans and exhibitors for achieving record sales. He said the festival attracted strong footfall from the first day, with visitors showing particular interest in handicrafts, food, cultural programmes and traditional games.
RUDA Advisor Om Prakash said 25 stalls were established by RUDA to showcase Rajasthani handicrafts, textiles and apparel. The stalls received an enthusiastic response from visitors, with purchases significantly higher than those recorded during previous editions.
Women-led groups were also a major part of the festival. Rajeevika set up 15 stalls featuring award-winning artists and craftspeople associated with women’s self-help groups. The stalls offered hand-block printed bedsheets, suits, sarees, bangles, jewellery, mojari footwear, lacquerware, leather products and traditional Rajasthani food.
Saras dairy products attracted considerable attention as well. Sales crossed ₹3 lakh, with visitors purchasing products brought from district milk unions across Rajasthan. The selection included Alwar kalakand, Bikaner rasgullas and gulab jamuns, cow ghee, buttermilk, lassi, paneer and shrikhand.
The festival also drew several prominent dignitaries, including Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, MP Bhagirath Choudhary, the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan and senior officials from the IAS, IPS and Indian Forest Service. Joint Resident Commissioner Rinku Meena said the dignitaries appreciated Teejotsav as a vibrant representation of Rajasthan’s artistic and cultural diversity.
Teejotsav began on August 15 with Rohit Kumar inaugurating the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The ten-day programme featured the traditional Teej Mata procession, performances by folk artists from across Rajasthan and a special presentation by renowned folk musician Kutle Khan, who performed Sufi and Rajasthani folk music.
The event went beyond showcasing Rajasthan’s culture. It created a direct marketplace for artisans, women’s self-help groups and grassroots entrepreneurs to connect with consumers and expand their reach.
With strong visitor turnout and sales crossing ₹1.30 crore, Teejotsav 2026 highlighted the continued appeal of Rajasthan’s traditional crafts, food and folk heritage among audiences in the national capital.
