A total of 1,087 vacancies had been notified for the examination.

Rising Participation of Women in Civil Services

The strong representation of women in the 2025 results aligns with a broader trend seen in recent years. Data presented in Parliament earlier indicated that the proportion of successful women candidates in civil services examinations increased from around 24 percent in 2019 to nearly 35 percent in 2023.

The latest results suggest that women candidates are continuing to consolidate their presence in India’s civil services.

The timing of the UPSC result announcement on March 6, just two days before International Women’s Day, adds symbolic significance to the achievement. The performance of women candidates reflects the expanding participation of women in public administration and governance.
