JEE Mains Result 2026 Declared: 12 Candidates Achieve 100 Percentile in Session 1

JEE Mains Result 2026 declared for Session 1; over 13 lakh candidates appear as 12 students achieve perfect 100 percentile nationwide

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results on February 16, 2026, bringing a wave of excitement and relief for engineering aspirants across India. JEE Main remains one of the country’s most competitive and widely attempted entrance examinations. The exam determines admission to undergraduate programmes such as B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Planning in NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutions. It also acts as the qualifying gateway for JEE Advanced, which opens the doors to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

This year, the results stood out because 12 candidates scored a perfect 100 percentile. They secured the highest possible score among more than 13 lakh students who appeared for the exam.

Massive Participation Nationwide

JEE Main 2026 Session 1 saw huge participation. More than 13.5 lakh students registered for the exam, and over 13 lakh candidates actually appeared. Students from all categories — General, EWS, OBC-NCL, SC and ST — took the test. NTA conducted the exam in multiple shifts over several days.

Considering the large number of candidates and the high level of competition, scoring at the very top requires strong preparation and excellent accuracy. This makes the achievement of the 12 toppers even more impressive.

Twelve Perfect Percentile Scorers

A total of 12 students secured a perfect 100 percentile in Session 1. A 100 percentile means that these candidates scored equal to or higher than every other candidate across all exam shifts.

Here is the official list of students who achieved 100 percentile along with their states of eligibility:

  • Shreyas Mishra – Delhi (NCT)
  • Narendrababu Gari Mahith – Andhra Pradesh
  • Shubham Kumar – Bihar
  • Kabeer Chhillar – Rajasthan
  • Chiranjib Kar – Rajasthan
  • Bhavesh Patra – Odisha
  • Anay Jain – Haryana
  • Arnav Gautam – Rajasthan
  • Pasala Mohith – Andhra Pradesh
  • Madhav Viradiya – Maharashtra
  • Purohit Nimay – Gujarat
  • Vivan Sharad Mahiswari – Telangana

Rajasthan had the highest number of students with a perfect score this year. This shows the strong preparation environment and competitive culture in the state. At the same time, students from Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Haryana and Telangana also performed exceptionally well, showing that talent is spread across the country.

How Percentile System Works

JEE Main does not rely only on raw marks. Instead, it uses a percentile-based system. Since the exam is held in multiple shifts, the difficulty level can vary slightly. To make the evaluation fair, NTA uses a normalization process.

The percentile score shows the percentage of candidates who scored equal to or below a particular candidate in that session. If someone scores 100 percentile, it means no one scored higher in that shift. NTA calculates percentile scores up to several decimal places to reduce ties and ensure accuracy.

This method ensures that students from different shifts are compared fairly.

Details On Scorecard

The candidates can download their scorecards for JEE Main 2026 Session 1 from the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. They have to log in using their application number and date of birth.

The scorecard includes:

  • Overall NTA Percentile Score
  • Subject-wise percentile scores for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • Total Percentile
  • All India Rank (AIR), which is released after percentile scores
  • Category Rank

Important instructions for the next admission steps

The percentile result is the first stage, but the All India Rank plays a major role in admissions.

Significance Of 100 Percentile

Scoring 100 percentile greatly improves a student’s chances for top admissions. These candidates belong to the highest performance level and are likely to make it to JEE Advanced, as per the rules.

After the release of All India Ranks by NTA, these candidates are expected to rank high. When they rank high, their chances of getting admission to the top NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded institutions, especially in popular streams such as Computer Science and Electronics, increase.

Apart from having a better chance of getting admission, high-scoring candidates are also recognized, awarded scholarships, and receive attention from educational institutions.

State Wise Performance

Rajasthan topped the list with perfect scorers in Session 1. The state’s strong coaching system and competitive environment are cited as reasons for their consistent performance.
However, looking at the list of toppers, it is clear that the best is no longer in a few states.

Students from all over the country have performed exceptionally well. With the aid of digital learning platforms, students now have an equal chance to perform well in all parts of the country.

What Happens Next

The announcement of Session 1 results begins the next phase of the admission process.

NTA will soon release the All India Ranks, which will decide the final merit positions. Eligible candidates must register separately for JEE Advanced if they want to compete for admission to IITs.

Students who are not satisfied with their performance can appear for JEE Main Session 2 in April 2026. Authorities will consider the best score from both sessions while preparing the final ranks.

Once both sessions are over and the final ranks are declared, the counselling and seat allotment procedure will start for NITs, IIITs, and other participating institutes.

For the 12 candidates who have scored a perfect 100 percentile, it is a moment of pride and the beginning of a bright future.
