Gangaur Procession Taken Out at Rajasthan Utsav at Bikaner House

Women in traditional Rajasthani attire offer prayers with auspicious songs

Rajasthan Utsav featured a grand Gangaur procession on Saturday at Bikaner House, New Delhi. Moreover, the 11-day festival will continue till March 25, 2026.

On the occasion, Additional Resident Commissioner Mrs. Anju Om Prakash informed that nearly 200 women participated in the Mangal Kalash Yatra, carrying pots and coconuts on their heads while circumambulating the entire Bikaner House premises.

Rajasthan Utsav Procession and Folk Performances

The procession was led by Rajasthani folk artists, who captivated the audience with performances such as mashak vadan and kachhi ghodi. Following this, hundreds of men and women, dressed in traditional attire, joined the procession, singing auspicious songs and celebrating the spirit of Gangaur.

Idols of Isar (Lord Shiva) and Gauri (Goddess Parvati) were installed, beautifully adorned, and worshipped during the event.

Visitors Enjoy Rajasthan Utsav Celebrations

She further added that, owing to the weekend, a large number of visitors from across Delhi attended the festival, enjoying authentic Rajasthani cuisine and actively purchasing handicrafts created by local artisans.

Significance of Gangaur Festival

It is noteworthy that Gangaur is one of Rajasthan’s प्रमुख festivals, dedicated to Goddess Parvati (Gauri) and Lord Shiva (Isar), symbolizing marital bliss and prosperity. The term ‘Gan’ refers to Lord Shiva, while ‘Gaur’ signifies Goddess Parvati.

Cultural Evening ‘Lok Rang’ Entertains Audience

Moreover, the Rajasthan Tourism Department organized ‘Lok Rang’ at Bikaner House after the procession. It entertained visitors. Renowned artist Gaffaruddin Mewati mesmerized the audience with his bhapang performance. The evening commenced with Ganesh Vandana. Then, artists performed Kesariya Balam, Chari dance, Kachhi Ghodi, Khari dance, Rim Bhawai, Ghoomar, and Rajasthani group dance, enthralling the audience

Dignitaries Present at the Event

Moreover, Joint Secretary to Government of India Mr. Ankan Chaudhary attended the occasion. Additionally, Joint Resident Commissioner Mrs. Rinku Meena, Mrs. Chhavi Pant, and Ms. Ritu Singh were present.
