Bhargav Mallappa, National Deputy Chairman of the People Forum of India (NBSS), reported a suspected cyber phishing case targeting multiple family members. Moreover, he issued a statement calling for stricter action against rising digital fraud.
According to an official complaint filed on the national cyber-crime portal, Mallappa received a suspicious unknown Telegram link on April 11, 2026. Moreover, the sender sent the same link to his wife and brother, suggesting a coordinated phishing attempt targeting the family.
Furthermore, authorities registered the complaint on April 13 under online and social media-related crime, including supporting digital evidence for investigation. Mallappa stated that an unidentified individual sent the link and raised concerns about attempts to access sensitive personal information.

In a statement issued from his office, Mallappa said the incident reflects a broader and growing threat posed by cyber fraud in daily digital communication.
“This is not an isolated case. Such phishing attempts are increasingly targeting individuals and families. There is an urgent need for stronger enforcement, timely investigation, and public awareness to curb these activities,” he said.
He has urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough probe into the matter. Moreover, he asked them to identify and prosecute those responsible under relevant legal provisions.
