Cites past constitutional precedents, says public mandate for Vijay cannot be ignored

Global Peace Initiative founder and Presidential adviser K. A. Paul has issued a strong appeal to the Governor of Tamil Nadu, demanding that actor-turned-politician Vijay be invited to prove his majority claim following what Paul described as a “massive and unexpected public mandate.”
Addressing media and supporters, Dr. Paul congratulated Vijay, referring to him as the “next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,” and claimed that the people of the state had rejected political predictions by giving overwhelming support to Vijay’s movement. According to Paul, political analysts and surveys had underestimated Vijay’s influence, predicting only a marginal electoral impact.
Dr. Paul stated that he had personally predicted Vijay’s rise several months ago and supported him and linked the political developments to what he described as resistance from the current Tamil Nadu government towards his proposed Global Peace Summit initiative. He alleged that despite plans to bring international leaders and investment opportunities aimed at generating employment in the state, permissions for the summit were delayed and obstructed by Stalin and DMK government in February 2026.
Recalling his previous public statements made in Chennai earlier this year, Dr. Paul claimed he had warned that political leadership opposing “peace initiatives and public welfare efforts” would face political consequences. He further alleged that the ruling establishment failed to cooperate despite repeated requests and legal warnings regarding event permissions.
Drawing comparisons with past constitutional precedents, Dr. Paul questioned why Vijay should not be invited to demonstrate support in the Assembly. He cited instances where Governors had invited leaders with fewer seats to prove their majority, including political developments in Maharashtra in 2014 and Karnataka in 2018 as well as former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee being invited in 1996 to form the government and prove his numbers on the floor of the House.
“Why not Vijay?” Dr. Paul asked, urging the Governor to either invite Vijay to prove his strength or “step down from the constitutional post.”
During his address, Dr. Paul also claimed that he had offered financial support for Vijay’s political journey, which Vijay allegedly declined, saying he only wanted “blessings” and an opportunity to work for the development of Tamil Nadu.
Calling on the public to support Vijay, Dr. Paul appealed to citizens and supporters across the country to “watch, share and stand for democratic values.”
