GT vs SRH: Gujarat Titans Rise to Top Spot With 82-Run Win Over SRH

GT vs SRH Highlights: Gujarat Titans beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs as SRH collapse for 86 and GT move to top of IPL 2026 table

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Titans delivered a brilliant all-round performance to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs in Match 56 of IPL 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 12. With this dominant victory, GT moved to the top of the IPL 2026 points table and strengthened their chances of finishing in the top 2 before the playoffs.

After being asked to bat first by SRH captain Pat Cummins, Gujarat Titans recovered from early wickets and posted 168/5 in 20 overs. In reply, GT bowlers completely dominated the game and bowled out Sunrisers Hyderabad for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs.

The defeat also became SRH’s lowest-ever total in IPL history.

Gujarat Titans Innings

Gujarat Titans did not get the start they wanted as captain Shubman Gill was dismissed for only 5 runs off 7 balls. He was caught by Heinrich Klaasen off the bowling of Praful Hinge.

Jos Buttler also failed to make a big contribution and scored just 7 runs from 11 balls before Ishan Kishan took his catch off Praful Hinge’s bowling.

Sai Sudharsan then steadied the innings with a brilliant knock of 61 runs from 44 balls. He hit 5 fours and 2 sixes before getting caught by Praful Hinge off Sakib Hussain’s bowling.

Young batter Nishant Sindhu played an aggressive innings and scored 22 runs from only 14 balls with 3 fours and 1 six. Heinrich Klaasen caught him off Pat Cummins’ bowling.

Washington Sundar played one of the most important innings for GT and smashed 50 runs from 33 balls, including 7 fours and 1 six. He was caught by Ishan Kishan off Sakib Hussain’s bowling.

Jason Holder remained unbeaten on 11 runs from 10 balls, while Rahul Tewatia scored 4 runs from just 1 ball and stayed not out.

Gujarat Titans finished with 168 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs, including 8 extra runs.

SRH Bowlers Pick Up Early Wickets

Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers started well and managed to trouble GT batters in the powerplay.

Praful Hinge was the most successful SRH bowler and picked up 2 important wickets of Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler.

Sakib Hussain also took 2 wickets and dismissed Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar.

Captain Pat Cummins claimed 1 wicket after dismissing Nishant Sindhu.

Despite the early breakthroughs, SRH bowlers failed to stop GT from building partnerships in the middle overs.

SRH Batting Collapse Against GT Bowlers

Chasing 169 runs, Sunrisers Hyderabad never looked comfortable against the disciplined Gujarat Titans bowling attack.

Mohammed Siraj gave GT the perfect start by dismissing dangerous opener Travis Head for 0. Nishant Sindhu took the catch.

Abhishek Sharma scored 6 runs from 4 balls before Kagiso Rabada bowled him out.

Ishan Kishan managed 11 runs from 7 balls with 1 four and 1 six before Jos Buttler caught him off Rabada’s bowling.

S. Ravichandran scored 9 runs from 15 balls before Shubman Gill took his catch off Rabada.

Heinrich Klaasen made 14 runs from 16 balls with 2 boundaries before Jos Buttler caught him off Jason Holder’s bowling.

S. Arora scored 16 runs from 13 balls and hit 3 fours before Jos Buttler took another catch off Prasidh Krishna’s bowling.

Nitish Kumar Reddy scored only 2 runs before Washington Sundar caught him off Jason Holder’s bowling.

SRH captain Pat Cummins tried to fight back with a quick 19 runs from just 9 balls. He smashed 1 four and 2 sixes before Mohammed Siraj caught him off Prasidh Krishna’s bowling.

S. Kumar managed only 4 runs before Jos Buttler took his 3rd catch of the innings off Jason Holder’s bowling.

Praful Hinge scored 3 runs before Rashid Khan stumped him through Jos Buttler.

E. Malinga remained unbeaten on 0 as SRH were bowled out for just 86 runs in 14.5 overs.

GT Bowlers Deliver One of the Best Performances of IPL 2026

Gujarat Titans bowlers completely dominated the match and never allowed SRH batters to settle.

Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder were the stars with the ball and picked up 3 wickets each.

Rabada dismissed Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and S. Ravichandran, while Holder removed Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy and S. Kumar.

Prasidh Krishna claimed 2 wickets by dismissing S. Arora and Pat Cummins.

Mohammed Siraj took the important wicket of Travis Head, while Rashid Khan dismissed Praful Hinge.

GT bowlers controlled the match from the beginning of the chase and bowled out SRH for one of the lowest totals of IPL 2026.

GT Reach Top of IPL 2026 Points Table

After this huge victory, Gujarat Titans climbed to the number 1 position in the IPL 2026 points table. GT now have 16 points from 12 matches with 8 wins and 4 losses. Their net run rate improved to +0.551 after the massive win.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are currently 2nd with 14 points from 11 matches and a strong net run rate of +1.103.

Despite the defeat, Sunrisers Hyderabad remain in 3rd place with 14 points from 12 matches and a net run rate of +0.331.

Punjab Kings are 4th with 13 points from 11 matches, while Chennai Super Kings are 5th with 12 points from 11 games.

Rajasthan Royals are 6th with 12 points from 11 matches and a net run rate of +0.082.

Delhi Capitals are 7th with 10 points from 12 matches and are still fighting for a playoff spot.

Kolkata Knight Riders are 8th with 9 points from 10 matches. Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants remain at the bottom with 6 points each from 11 matches.

GT Continue Strong Push Towards Playoffs

The 82-run victory became one of Gujarat Titans’ biggest wins in IPL history. GT also continued their unbeaten record against SRH in Ahmedabad.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, meanwhile, recorded their lowest-ever IPL total after being bowled out for just 86 runs.

Washington Sundar’s innovative six during his half-century knock also became one of the major talking points of the match.

With the IPL 2026 playoff race becoming more intense, Gujarat Titans now look like one of the strongest title contenders this season, while Sunrisers Hyderabad will need strong performances in their remaining matches to stay among the top teams.
