Discussions Focus on Strengthening Cooperation with Ministry of Tribal Affairs for Tribal Welfare and Sustainable Livelihoods
New Delhi: HRDS INDIA Founder-Secretary Shri Aji Krishnan called on Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram at the Ministry of Tribal Affairs in New Delhi and presented a detailed report on the organisation’s humanitarian work undertaken under the broader framework of Operation Sindoor.
The report documented HRDS INDIA’s relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction initiatives through photographs and detailed records, with particular focus on rebuilding houses and supporting vulnerable and tribal families in Jammu & Kashmir and other affected areas.
Three Decades of Tribal Development
The interaction also covered the organisation’s three-decade-long work in tribal development, rural reconstruction and disaster response. HRDS INDIA has undertaken initiatives related to housing, education, healthcare, skill development and livelihoods across Kerala, Jharkhand, Assam, Tripura and several other states.
The organisation has also undertaken extensive reconstruction efforts in Jammu & Kashmir, including rebuilding thousands of damaged homes and assisting families impacted by floods and other hardships.
Minister Applauds HRDS INDIA’s Grassroots Efforts
Union Minister Jual Oram acknowledged HRDS INDIA’s grassroots presence and its efforts to strengthen tribal communities. He underlined the significance of civil society participation in advancing tribal welfare, housing and community development and welcomed greater engagement between HRDS INDIA and the Ministry.
Aji Krishnan said the organisation’s objective is to reach vulnerable communities and contribute to their sustainable and dignified development.
HRDS INDIA Emphasises Hope and Self-Reliance
“HRDS INDIA believes true nation-building begins with securing the homes and futures of vulnerable communities, especially tribal families. Operation Sindoor’s humanitarian efforts have helped us support families facing adversity. We aim to provide not just shelter, but also hope and self-reliance,” he said.
The meeting also discussed potential areas of cooperation. These included improving basic amenities in tribal settlements, preserving indigenous knowledge and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
Through initiatives such as Sadhgraha, HRDS INDIA continues to work in remote and tribal-dominated areas. Its efforts focus on housing, education, women’s empowerment and natural-resource-based livelihoods.
