New Delhi: The Management Education and Research Institute (MERI), Janakpuri, organised a two-day orientation programme for students of the 2026 academic session, marking the commencement of the institute’s 31st batch. The programme familiarised the new students with MERI’s academic environment, faculty members, campus facilities, student-development initiatives and the career opportunities available to them.
The first day of the orientation programme was organised for BBA and MBA students, while the second day was dedicated to students pursuing BCA, B.Com. and BA (JMC) programmes.
The programme began with a warm welcome from Prof. (Dr.) Lalit Aggarwal, Vice President, MERI Group of Institutions. Addressing the new students, he said that the young learners joining MERI represent the future of India. He encouraged students to actively participate in academic and co-curricular activities and make the most of the opportunities available at the institute.
Prof. Aggarwal emphasised that active participation helps students enhance their learning, build confidence and achieve overall personal and professional growth.
MERI Highlights Space Studies and Emerging Career Opportunities
Lt. General PJS Pannu (Retd.) addressed the students and highlighted the importance of the Department of Space Studies at MERI. He encouraged students to develop an interest in space science and emerging fields while exploring the academic and career opportunities available in these areas.
Maj. Gen. Manjeet Singh Mokha highlighted the diverse opportunities available to students at MERI. He encouraged them to strengthen their professional skills, develop leadership qualities and actively participate in institutional activities.
He also highlighted opportunities offered through the Department of Space Studies, certificate programmes and NCC, noting their role in building students’ confidence, leadership abilities, personality and professional skills.
Focus on Global Exposure and International Education
Prof. (Dr.) Ramakant Dwivedi introduced students to the activities of the MERI Centre for International Education. He emphasised the importance of global exposure, international learning opportunities and developing a broader professional outlook in today’s competitive environment.
The orientation programme also helped students understand MERI’s academic structure, campus facilities, faculty members and various initiatives focused on student development.
Dean Encourages Students to Become Part of the MERI Community
Prof. (Dr.) Deepshikha Kalra, Dean, MERI, motivated the new students and encouraged them to actively engage with the institute’s academic and co-curricular environment. She told the students, “You have not just joined a college; you have joined an environment and a community.”
She also introduced the faculty members to the new students and proposed the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the programme.
Several alumni and all faculty members attended the orientation programme and interacted with the new batch. The two-day programme concluded on August 18, providing students with an overview of the academic, professional and extracurricular opportunities available at MERI.
