New Delhi: Jawa has introduced a new version of its popular 42 motorcycle in India. The company has launched the Jawa 42 All Stars, and it would be inaccurate to view it simply as a new colour edition. Jawa has made several changes to the motorcycle, covering its design, chassis, ergonomics, tyres, exhaust and overall riding setup. According to the company, the new Jawa 42 receives more than 60 enhancements.
With this update, Jawa has also expanded its All Stars family. The company has already introduced the All Stars treatment on the Jawa 42 FJ and Jawa 42 Bobber. The Jawa 42 now becomes the most accessible motorcycle in the All Stars lineup.
Minor Price Increase, But Major Changes
The new Jawa 42 All Stars starts at ₹1,79,942 and goes up to ₹1,89,942 ex-showroom Delhi, although some reports have listed the starting price at around ₹1.85 lakh. The price varies depending on the colour and variant. Meanwhile, the non-All Stars Black and Ivory versions of the Jawa 42 continue to be available at around ₹1.80 lakh.
The All Stars range comes in shades including Ivory, Moss Grey, Battle Green, Nebula Blue and Black. The Black variant carries the highest price. Jawa has also added All Stars branding and star-themed design elements to these colour options.
The Real Changes Are Visible at the Rear
Jawa has retained the core retro character of the 42 while giving the motorcycle more muscular proportions. The bike gets revised side panels, a wider rear fender and an updated rear section.
One of the biggest visual changes comes from the wider 150/70-17 rear tyre. It gives the motorcycle a broader rear profile and a stronger road presence. The front gets a 100/90-18 tyre, while the new alloy wheels add a sportier touch to the overall design.
Jawa has also revised the exhaust setup. The motorcycle now features upswept twin exhausts, connecting its visual identity with the 42 FJ and other motorcycles in the All Stars family.
The 60+ Updates Go Beyond Styling
The biggest highlight of the new Jawa 42 is that the company has not treated it as a purely cosmetic makeover. Jawa has made changes to the frame and swingarm stiffness while also revising the ergonomics, handling and comfort.
The motorcycle gets additional seat cushioning, while Jawa has retained its familiar bench-style seat profile.
These changes aim to make the motorcycle more comfortable and controlled during everyday riding rather than simply making it look different. This makes the new 42 All Stars a more significant update for Jawa than a conventional special edition.
Same Engine, Updated Riding Package
The Jawa 42 All Stars uses a 294.72cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine. The engine produces around 27 hp of power and 26.3 Nm of torque and comes paired with a six-speed gearbox.
Jawa has therefore retained the motorcycle’s core performance characteristics while updating several other aspects of the riding package.
For braking, the motorcycle gets 280mm front and 240mm rear disc brakes. Dual-channel ABS also comes as standard. The motorcycle has a reported kerb weight of 175kg, while its wheelbase measures 1,369mm and ground clearance stands at 173mm. The fuel tank has a capacity of 13.2 litres.
Jawa’s Strategy Ahead of the Festive Season
Jawa has opened bookings for the new 42 All Stars, with customer deliveries expected to begin on September 14, 2026. The launch timing is significant because the company has introduced the motorcycle just ahead of India’s festive buying season.
The Jawa 42 competes in the modern-classic motorcycle segment against models such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Honda CB350 H’ness.
For Jawa, simply introducing a new paint scheme would not have been enough in this competitive segment. The company has attempted to strengthen the motorcycle’s position by refreshing both its design and riding experience.
Does the Jawa 42 All Stars Offer Enough Upgrades?
The biggest story behind the new Jawa 42 is not its new colours but the claim of more than 60 updates. Jawa has given the motorcycle a more muscular appearance, wider tyres, new alloy wheels, an updated exhaust system and a revised chassis setup while retaining the retro styling that defines the 42.
For riders who already like the design of the Jawa 42 but want a more modern stance and updated riding package, the All Stars Edition could prove to be an interesting option.
For existing Jawa 42 owners, however, the key question will be whether the changes to the chassis, comfort and styling are substantial enough to justify an upgrade.
Overall, calling the Jawa 42 All Stars simply a special-edition motorcycle would overlook the extent of the changes. With this version, Jawa is attempting to preserve the motorcycle’s modern-classic identity while making the 42 more attractive and contemporary for today’s riders.
