Big Jobs Boost in Bihar: 5,500 Librarian Posts, 7,500 Vacancies for Persons with Disabilities

Updated At: December 31, 2025 1:48 PM

In a major boost to education and employment, Bihar announces large-scale recruitment to strengthen schools and promote inclusive growth.

The Bihar government has announced a major recruitment drive in the education sector. Under this plan, the state will recruit around 5,500 librarians for government schools and educational institutions. At the same time, the government will also complete the recruitment of 7,500 posts reserved for persons with disabilities (PwBD). Education Minister Sunil Kumar said this step will not only support job seekers but also improve the quality of education across Bihar.

Librarian Recruitment to Resume After Long Gap

Bihar has not conducted a large-scale librarian recruitment for more than a decade. As a result, many library posts in schools and colleges have remained vacant. Now, through this fresh hiring process, the government aims to strengthen library services and, in turn, improve students’ access to books and learning resources. Moreover, the move will create new job opportunities for candidates with library science qualifications.

7,500 Jobs Reserved for Persons with Disabilities

Alongside librarian appointments, the Bihar government will fill 7,500 government jobs reserved for persons with disabilities. Through this initiative, the state seeks to promote inclusive employment and ensure the effective implementation of reservation policies. Consequently, differently-abled candidates will gain better access to stable government jobs and greater participation in public services.

Education Budget Crosses ₹70,000 Crore

Meanwhile, the recruitment drive forms part of Bihar’s broader education reform agenda. Notably, the state’s education budget has crossed ₹70,000 crore, highlighting the government’s focus on strengthening education infrastructure, staffing and learning quality. These reforms are being implemented under the Saat Nishchay 3.0 programme.

Model Schools and University Upgrades Planned

Furthermore, under the new education roadmap, the government plans to open model schools in every block of the state. At the same time, it will upgrade older universities and develop them as centres of excellence. As a result, higher education and research standards across Bihar are expected to improve significantly.

Upgradation of 78,000 Schools

In addition, the state government is working to upgrade around 78,000 schools so that they can offer education from Classes 1 to 12. This step will help students complete their schooling closer to home. Moreover, to modernise learning, the government will introduce new books on artificial intelligence and robotics and provide tablets and computers to students in higher classes.

Teacher Recruitment Under TRE-4

Along with librarian recruitment, Bihar is also preparing for the next phase of teacher hiring under the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4). Officials plan to send vacancy details, including librarian posts, to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) between 15 and 20 January 2026, once roster clearance is completed.

Recruitment Timeline and Notification

At present, the government has not issued the official recruitment notifications. However, officials have indicated that the recruitment process for librarian posts and PwBD-reserved jobs is likely to begin in early 2026. Before releasing the notifications, the government will finalise eligibility criteria, pay structure and other administrative approvals.

Relief for Job Seekers and Education Sector

Overall, this large recruitment drive is expected to create thousands of government jobs. At the same time, it will strengthen school libraries, improve education quality and promote inclusive growth across the state. Therefore, officials believe the move will bring long-term benefits to both students and job aspirants.

Government Assures Close Monitoring

Finally, the Bihar government has assured that it will closely monitor the entire recruitment process to ensure transparency and timely completion. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to improving education, expanding employment opportunities and implementing lasting reforms in the state.
