Technology Is Changing the Future of Journalism, Says NDTV Editor Akhilesh Sharma
New Delhi: MERI College, Janakpuri, hosted an expert session on “The Art of TV Anchoring and Career Opportunities” on Thursday, bringing BA (JMC) students face-to-face with Akhilesh Sharma, Managing Editor of NDTV. The session took place under the guidance of Prof. Lalit Aggarwal, Vice President of MERI Group of Institutions.
Speaking to the students, Sharma highlighted the major changes technology has brought to journalism. He said mobile phones have emerged as essential tools for journalists and have reshaped the process of news gathering, production and presentation.
Sharma explained that successful television anchors need confidence, clear speech, voice modulation and effective presentation skills. He said anchors must do more than simply read news; they need to understand the context and sensitivity of every situation before presenting it to the audience. He also urged students to read newspapers regularly to strengthen their knowledge and awareness.
The programme concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where Sharma responded to students’ questions about journalism, anchoring and career prospects. Dr. S.K. Pandey welcomed the speaker and audience, while Kritika Gupta and Ridhima Tanwar, students of BA (JMC) Semester 3, moderated the programme. Prof. Sadanand Pandey delivered the vote of thanks.
