Border 2: Sunny Deol’s War Drama Sells 4 Lakh Tickets Ahead of Release

Border 2 collects nearly ₹12.5 crore in advance bookings ahead of its theatrical debut

New Delhi: Sunny Deol’s much-awaited war drama Border 2 has created strong excitement among movie lovers, with fans booking tickets well in advance of its release. The film has already sold over 4 lakh tickets across India and collected around ₹12.5 crore in advance revenue for Day 1, showing that audiences are excited to watch the sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border.

Strong Advance Booking Numbers

Ticket sales for Border 2 increased steadily in the hours before release. Theatres sold about 4,000 tickets per hour in the morning and almost 10,000 tickets per hour in the evening. The movie’s overall advance earnings were further boosted by its availability in high-end formats like Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and IMAX.

How Border 2 Compares With Other Films

Outperforming Dhurandhar: Border 2 has crossed the advance booking figures of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. While Dhurandhar recorded a little over ₹9 crore in Day 1 pre-sales, Border 2 has already moved past the ₹12.5 crore mark.

Comparison with Sunny Deol’s Earlier Films: The film has also done better than Sunny Deol’s Jaat, which earned about ₹2.4 crore in advance bookings. However, it still falls short of Gadar 2, which remains his biggest opener with ₹17.5 crore collected before release.

Advance Booking Growth and Trends

Trade figures show a sharp rise in advance bookings, which doubled in less than 12 hours, climbing from ₹6 crore to nearly ₹12 crore. Analysts also observed that ticket sales continued to grow throughout the week, with thousands of tickets being booked every hour by mid-week.

Reasons Behind High Advance Bookings

Several key factors have driven the strong pre-release response for Border 2:

Nostalgia factor: As a sequel to the 1997 war classic Border, the film benefits from the lasting popularity of the original.

Star-studded cast: The presence of Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty has attracted both core fans and younger audiences.

Holiday advantage: The release is scheduled just before Republic Day, a time when patriotic films usually perform well at the box office.

Opening Day Expectations

Experts predict that Border 2 could earn ₹30–35 crore on its opening day, thanks to strong advance bookings and the Republic Day holiday. If word-of-mouth is positive and theaters remain full, the film could even reach ₹40 crore on Day 1.

With strong pre-release numbers and widespread anticipation, Border 2 is set to make a big impact at the box office during the Republic Day weekend.
