Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a pointed commentary today on the substantial cash discovery made during tax raids on a Congress MP in Odisha. This amount is purportedly the largest ever recovered by any investigative agency in India in a single operation. Income Tax officials uncovered ₹353.5 crore in cash during raids at various properties linked to the MP, Dheeraj Sahu. The currency, meticulously counted using advanced machines, was conspicuously arranged on the floor and stored in numerous cabinets, as depicted in videos and photos.
Sharing a video posted by the BJP on [platform], the Prime Minister remarked, “In India, who needs the fictional ‘Money Heist’ when we have the Congress Party, whose heists have been legendary for 70 years and counting!”
The BJP shared a satirical adaptation of the widely acclaimed show on [platform], humorously titled “Congress Presents the Money Heist,” to underscore their critique of the party. The parody integrates visuals of the cash seized from the Congress MP, synchronized with the original background score of Netflix’s ‘Money Heist.’ The video also includes images of the Congress MP alongside party president Mallikarjun Kharge and leader Rahul Gandhi.
The BJP has consistently questioned the Congress’ silence on this matter, attributing it to their perceived disposition towards corruption.
Addressing the 43rd convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar made reference to the incident, suggesting, “I urge all of you (students) to innovate a machine capable of rapidly counting currency notes.”
Home Minister Amit Shah observed, “I understand the Congress’ silence, considering corruption seems ingrained in their nature. However, the silence of JDU, RJD, DMK, and SP is noteworthy. I now comprehend the motives behind the campaign against PM Modi, alleging misuse of agencies. It was evidently driven by their apprehension that the secrets of their corruption would be exposed.”
Responding from the Congress, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated, “The BJP-led central government appears to exclusively target the Congress. Let them conduct similar raids on BJP leaders; only then will the extent of their (ill-gotten wealth) be revealed.”
