Deepika Padukone Shines at Oscars with ‘Deewani Mastani’ Performance

Deepika Padukone’s admirers were elated to witness her portrayal highlighted on the official Instagram platform of the Academy. Recently, the Academy paid tribute to Deepika’s memorable rendition of the song “Deewani Mastani,” beautifully sung by Shreya Ghoshal. The Academy’s official handle shared a captivating clip of Deepika gracefully dancing to the iconic melody from the acclaimed movie “Bajirao Mastani,” helmed by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and co-starring Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra.

Accompanying the video, the official page of Oscar captioned, “Deepika Padukone performing Deewani Mastani (sung by Shreya Ghoshal) from the movie Bajirao Mastani. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra.”

In response to the shared clip, Ranveer Singh, Deepika’s spouse, swiftly chimed in, commenting, “Mesmeric!” Additionally, fans flooded the comment section with praises for the actress. One enthusiast lauded, “The gracefulness of Deepika in this rendition is unparalleled; I doubt any other artist could execute it with such finesse. In March of the preceding year, Deepika graced the stage with a presentation of the Oscar-winning song “Naatu Naatu” from the film “RRR” at the 95th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles. Composed by MM Keeravani, “Naatu Naatu” marked a historic milestone as the first Telugu song not only to be performed and nominated but also to win at the prestigious Oscars.

Introducing the act, Deepika articulated, “An irresistibly catchy chorus, electrifying beats, and captivating dance moves have propelled this song into a global phenomenon. It plays a pivotal role in RRR, a film depicting the camaraderie between real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.”

She continued, “Beyond being sung in Telugu and encapsulating the film’s anti-colonialist themes, it stands as a testament to musical excellence. With millions of views on YouTube and TikTok, captivating audiences in theaters worldwide, it also represents a significant milestone as the first Indian production song to receive an Oscar nomination.”
