Dr. K.A. Paul Condemns Attack on Chief Justice of India; Demands Immediate Arrest of Accused and Strict Legal Action

Updated At: October 8, 2025 8:46 PM

Dr. Paul writes to Home Minister Amit Shah, seeking full accountability and stronger judicial security measures to uphold faith in India’s rule of law.

New Delhi, October 8, 2025:

Global Peace Initiative founder Dr. K.A. Paul has strongly condemned the shocking attack on Chief Justice of India Justice Gavai inside the Supreme Court premises. The broad-daylight incident has triggered widespread concern over the safety of India’s judiciary and the robustness of the nation’s legal system.

Addressing a press conference, Dr. Paul expressed deep dismay over the fact that the accused, Senior Advocate Rakesh Kishore (71), was reportedly released within three hours of the attack. “If the Chief Justice of India himself is not safe, how can ordinary citizens, youth, or the general public feel protected?” he questioned.

Dr. Paul underscored that justice must remain equal for all, irrespective of one’s status, influence, or background. He questioned the unusually swift release of the accused, raising suspicions of external influence or preferential treatment. “No one, however powerful or privileged, is above the law. The law must be enforced strictly to preserve the public’s confidence in the judiciary,” he stated.

Highlighting the seriousness of the matter, Dr. Paul warned that failure to hold the offender accountable could encourage similar attacks and embolden those seeking to undermine democratic institutions. He urged law enforcement and judicial authorities to re-arrest the accused and ensure a transparent and lawful trial.

In a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Dr. Paul demanded an immediate review of security arrangements for senior judges and judicial officers across the country. “Protecting the judiciary is essential for safeguarding democracy and upholding constitutional rights,” he emphasized.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Paul appealed to citizens to stand united in defense of the judiciary’s dignity and independence. “The Chief Justice is not just the head of India’s legal system — he is a symbol of national faith in justice. Safeguarding this institution means safeguarding India’s democracy,” he said.
