Shubman Gill starred with a match-winning 104 as Gujarat Titans chased 215 to secure a 7-wicket victory and enter the IPL 2026 final
New Delhi: Gujarat Titans reached in the IPL 2026 final after beating Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in Qualifier 2 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.
Chasing a target of 215 runs, GT put on a batting masterclass and reached 219/3 in just 18.4 overs, winning the match with 8 balls to spare.
With this victory, Gujarat Titans advanced to the IPL 2026 final, where they will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, were knocked out of the tournament despite putting up a strong total.
Shubman Gill Leads GT Into the Final
Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill played a captain’s knock and won the Player of the Match award for his outstanding century.
Gill scored 104 runs from just 53 balls and hit 15 fours and 3 sixes during his innings. He batted at a strike rate of 196.23 and kept Gujarat Titans ahead throughout the chase.
His innings proved to be the biggest reason behind GT’s successful run chase and their entry into the final.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Shines With 96
After being asked to bat first, Rajasthan Royals posted a strong total of 214/6 in their 20 overs.
The innings began on a disappointing note when Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for just 1 run off 2 balls. Mohammed Siraj gave Gujarat Titans an early breakthrough by removing the opener.
Young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi then played a sensational innings and helped Rajasthan Royals recover. He smashed 96 runs off 47 balls and missed out on a century by only 4 runs.
His entertaining knock included 8 fours and 7 sixes and came at a strike rate of 204.26.
Dhruv Jurel contributed 7 runs from 6 balls before Kagiso Rabada dismissed him.
Ravindra Jadeja held one end together and remained unbeaten on 45 runs from 35 deliveries. His innings included 5 fours and 1 six.
Captain Riyan Parag scored 11 runs from 6 balls before Jason Holder dismissed him. Dasun Shanaka struggled to score freely and managed only 3 runs from 9 deliveries before Holder sent him back as well.
Jofra Archer added a quick 7 runs from 4 balls before Prasidh Krishna dismissed him.
Donovan Ferreira provided late fireworks with an unbeaten 38 runs from just 11 balls. He smashed 2 fours and 4 sixes and scored at a strike rate of 345.45.
Rajasthan Royals finished their innings on 214/6, including 6 extra runs.
GT Bowlers Deliver at Key Moments
Although Rajasthan Royals scored heavily, Gujarat Titans bowlers picked up important wickets at crucial times.
Kagiso Rabada was the most successful bowler for GT with 2 wickets. He dismissed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel.
Jason Holder also took 2 wickets by removing Riyan Parag and Dasun Shanaka.
Mohammed Siraj claimed the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal early in the innings, while Prasidh Krishna dismissed Jofra Archer.
Gill and Sudharsan Put GT in Command
Gujarat Titans got off to a perfect start in the chase as Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan attacked the Rajasthan Royals bowlers from the very beginning.
The opening pair added a massive 167 runs for the first wicket and laid the foundation for victory.
Sai Sudharsan played a brilliant innings of 58 runs from 32 balls. He struck 8 fours and 1 six before being dismissed hit wicket by Brijesh Sharma.
Gill continued his superb batting and completed a magnificent century before Jofra Archer dismissed him lbw for 104 runs.

Buttler and Tewatia Complete the Job
After Gill’s dismissal, Jos Buttler stayed unbeaten on 9 runs from 9 balls.
Washington Sundar played a useful cameo of 16 runs from 9 balls, hitting 2 fours and 1 six before Nandre Burger dismissed him.
Rahul Tewatia then joined Buttler in the middle and helped Gujarat Titans finish the chase comfortably. Tewatia remained unbeaten on 17 runs from 9 balls, including 2 fours and 1 six.
GT also received 15 extra runs during the chase and eventually finished on 219/3 in 18.4 overs.
Gujarat Titans Set Up Title Clash With RCB
Gujarat Titans produced an excellent all-round performance to chase down 215 runs and secure a place in the IPL 2026 final.
Shubman Gill’s match-winning century, Sai Sudharsan’s attacking half-century and timely wickets from the bowlers helped GT defeat Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets.
With this victory, Gujarat Titans moved one step closer to another IPL title and will now take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2026 final.
