New Delhi: Apple is set to host its much-awaited product launch event on September 9. The company has named the event “Surprise and Shine.” This year’s launch could become particularly significant as Apple is expected to introduce its premium iPhone models and possibly unveil its first-ever foldable iPhone. The event will also mark the first major public product launch under Apple’s new CEO, John Ternus.
Apple will hold the event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, on September 9. For viewers in India, the event is scheduled to begin at around 10:30 PM IST. Apple is expected to stream the event online through its official website, YouTube and the Apple TV app, allowing viewers across the world to watch the announcements live.
Foldable iPhone could be the biggest surprise
The biggest attraction at this year’s event may not be the iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple could finally enter the foldable smartphone market with its first foldable iPhone, which could also become the company’s most expensive smartphone yet. Reports currently estimate a starting price of around $1,999.
Reports have referred to the device as the “iPhone Ultra” or “iPhone Fold.” The phone is expected to feature a book-style folding design, with a large internal display and a conventional outer screen. Reports suggest that the internal display could measure around 7.6 to 7.8 inches, while the outer screen could measure roughly 5.3 inches.

What’s new in the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max?
Apple could introduce improvements to the processor, cameras, display and battery. The new Pro models are expected to feature the A20 Pro chip, while Apple could also introduce a smaller Dynamic Island and other display-related changes. Reports have also pointed to a variable-aperture camera, particularly for the Pro Max model.
If these reports prove accurate, Apple could position the iPhone 18 Pro series as a significant upgrade over the previous generation.
Will the standard iPhone 18 launch this year?
Apple could follow a different strategy this year by splitting the iPhone 18 lineup into two launch cycles.
Several reports suggest that the September event will focus primarily on the premium iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the foldable iPhone. The standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and the second-generation iPhone Air could arrive later, potentially in spring 2027.
Expected price in India
Apple has not announced the Indian prices of the iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone 18 Pro Max yet. However, reports suggest that the new Pro models could cost more than their predecessors due to higher component and memory costs.
The foldable iPhone, if Apple launches it, could sit at the top of the company’s pricing structure. Its final Indian price will become clear only when Apple officially announces the device.
Apple watch and AirPods may also get updates
The September 9 event could also bring new wearable products. Apple is expected to introduce the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 alongside its new iPhones. Reports have also suggested the possibility of a ceramic case option for the Apple Watch Series 12.
Apple could also introduce AirPods 5, with reports pointing towards improvements in audio quality and new health-related features. However, Apple has not confirmed the final product lineup.
This year’s Apple event is also attracting attention because of the company’s leadership transition. John Ternus became Apple’s CEO on September 1, taking over from Tim Cook, who moved into the role of executive chairman. The September 9 event will therefore become an important early public appearance for Ternus as Apple’s new chief executive.
The event could consequently represent more than just another iPhone launch. It could offer an early glimpse into Apple’s strategy under its new leadership.
