Samsung has started rolling out One UI 9 based on Android 17. Check new Galaxy AI, My FanCam, privacy, scam detection features and eligible Galaxy devices
New Delhi: Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 9 update to its Galaxy smartphones. The company has built the latest software on Android 17, and the rollout has initially started with the Galaxy S26 series. Samsung began releasing the update for the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra on September 16, 2026. The company will gradually expand the update to more Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
One UI 9 goes beyond a regular software upgrade. Samsung has integrated Galaxy AI more deeply into everyday smartphone functions. The update brings several new features for video editing, personalization, translation, document handling, and device security.
My FanCam Keeps the Subject in Focus
One of the key features in One UI 9 is My FanCam. The AI-powered tool can identify a selected person in a recorded video and adjust the framing as that person moves.
For example, if the subject moves from one side of the frame to another, the system can automatically adjust the framing to keep that person in focus. This can reduce the need to manually crop or reframe videos after recording.
Now Brief and Now Nudge Get Smarter
Samsung has also upgraded Now Brief with new capabilities. Users can now work with generative and editable cards, allowing them to organize daily information according to their preferences.
Now Nudge takes a more contextual approach. The feature can understand information within a user’s activity and suggest relevant actions. For instance, when a conversation includes details about a plan or location, Now Nudge can suggest a related action, reducing the need to switch between different apps.
Samsung has also added AI-focused improvements to Creative Studio. The tool can suggest ideas for creating images based on upcoming occasions or events.
The company has also enhanced Interpreter with a new Thread View. This feature makes it easier for users to review previous translations while keeping the conversation context in view.
Samsung Strengthens Privacy and Scam Detection
Samsung has also placed a strong focus on security with One UI 9. The new Security Brief can alert users to potential security issues, including suspicious apps, malware, and unnecessary permissions.
The Privacy Alerts feature uses on-device AI to provide information about potentially sensitive privacy-related activity on the device.
Samsung has also expanded Scam Detection to additional countries and languages. India is among the markets where the company plans to make the feature available.
Which Samsung Phones Will Get One UI 9?
Samsung has already started rolling out One UI 9 to the Galaxy S26 series. The company plans to begin the rollout for the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold7, and Galaxy Z Flip7 from September 28. Samsung has also indicated that the Galaxy S23 FE will receive the update in October.
However, users in India may receive the update on different dates. Samsung typically follows a phased rollout, and the exact timing can vary depending on the region, carrier, and device variant.
The One UI 9 rollout will also cover the Galaxy S24 and S23 series, older Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip models, and select Galaxy Tab devices. Samsung has noted that availability can vary by device and market.
Users can check whether the update has arrived on their Galaxy device by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
If the update does not appear immediately, it does not necessarily mean that the device will not receive One UI 9. Samsung often releases major software updates in stages across different regions.
